Bear

Bear's are coming around again in full force. They are needing to put on weight for the winter and will be interested in unsecured trash cans, bird feeders, and food left outside for pets and livestock. Turtles

Though turtles are usually no threat to humans, some occasional threats do occur. These are often when turtles find their way into our yards and our children or pets discover them and attempt to investigate. A turtle bite can be a very painful injury that can cause severe pain and often will necessitate the need of medical attention. A turtle bite is very strong and exerts a lot of pressure. The bite of a large snapping turtle can sever a human finger. Turtles can cause landscape damage due to digging and nesting. When a nest has been established and eggs incubate you can eventually find yourself with dozens of little turtles in your yard and expensive landscaping. This will be an invite to local predators. Turtles carry a variety of bacteria and disease. The most well known is salmonella. Other harmful bacteria can be transferred as well due to handling. Some of which can cause severe and in some cases life threatening diseases of the human intestinal track.

Moles



Mole damage can be some of the most destructive damage caused to expensive lawns. They can tunnel at about 18 feet per hour and speed through existing tunnels at 80 feet every minute. Their tunneling causes a separation between the grass roots and soil. This will cause a yellowish dieing pattern in the lawn. This will lead to increased weed growth.

Muskrat



Muskrat can cause a great deal of damage around our ponds and lakes. Their damage will be borrowing through banks. This can cause dangerous situations due to someone accidentally stepping into a hole in the bank. These accidents have caused minor injuries to broken legs. This is especially an issue for horses. Like beaver muskrat carry and infect humans with tularemia. They also introduce a variety of other parasites, including ticks, mites, fleas, etc and the diseases associated with them.

Rodents



Rodents are noted to be carriers of over 30 different types of diseases. Some of the most noted are rabies, hantavirus, eosinophilic meningitis, and spread leptospirosis and salmonella through their excrement. They also introduce a variety of parasites, including ticks, mites, fleas, etc and the diseases associated with them.

Beaver



We all know the damage that beavers can cause. They often cause flooding, affect the integrity of roads, alter waterways, and damage trees. They cause millions of dollars in damage every year. They carry a variety of diseases and internal parasites some of which are tularemia, nematodes, trematodes, and coccidians. Giardia lamblia is a pathogenic intestinal parasite that causes human giardiasis. They also introduce a variety of other parasites, Including ticks, mites, fleas, etc and the diseases associated with them.

Otters

Otter's are amazing hunters and can clean out a fish pond in no time. They can cause thousands of dollars in loss due to feeding upon expensive fish.
