opossum

Opossum can be very destructive to property and cause nuisance issues by raiding trash and finding dens in garages, crawlspaces, sheds, etc. Due to their higher body temperatures and strong immune systems they tend to carry and transmit less diseases than other wildlife. Though rare they can transmit rabies and spread leptospirosis and salmonella through contact with their excrement. They do also carry diseases that can be very harmful and fatal to horses. They introduce a variety of parasites, including tick, mites, fleas, etc and the disease associated with them.
